In light of the current international crisis and growing attempts to mislead public opinion and undermine civil peace in Iraq, the Iraqi National Security Service has reaffirmed its close monitoring of social media content that seeks to incite sectarian and political divisions, distort facts, and spread false narratives.
The agency emphasized that while freedom of expression is guaranteed, it does not permit violations of national laws or threats to national security and societal cohesion. Any form of inflammatory rhetoric or content that jeopardizes Iraq’s unity and stability will be dealt with in accordance with applicable laws and in coordination with the judicial authorities.
The National Security Service urged citizens and media outlets to act responsibly, verify information before sharing it, and refrain from spreading fear, hate, or deliberate misinformation that could damage trust in state institutions.
Reiterating its constitutional responsibilities, the agency stated that it reserves the full right to take legal action against anyone found to be endangering public order or threatening civil peace.
